Home at last

Yesterday we all finally arrived home as a family. I think that besides our wedding day, coming through the door to our apartment with Eiley in her car seat was the most joyful moment I've ever had. We are so excited and thankful to be here. The last 16 days have been some of the longest and most trying, but they were worth every minute.

I want this update to be about everyone who brought us through. To you, thank you for following along and praying. For leaving kind comments and sending texts. Your encouragment has been pushing us through each day.

To my family who spent literal days in the car driving to be with us. Who held us when we cried and smiled every time they saw us. Who prayed continuously and loved every photo we shared. Who stayed by our sides when Alexa and I had to be apart.

To the staff in Lincoln who orchestrated the delivery, nursed my dear wife back to health, and encouraged us through Eiley being transferred. Who considered Alexa more a friend than a patient. And who brought our lovely Eiley into the world.

To our guardian angels in the NICU who fought for us and loved Eiley as if she were their own. To Michelle, Kerby, Hannah, Rhonda, Deidre, and the countless other nurses and NICU staff who spent days and long nights caring for our child and the children of others.

To friends who went out of their way to visit us and neighbors who brought us meals. To the new friends we made who shared in our struggles.

And to my wife. Who spent every moment loving those around her. Being gracious and patient. For being strong and courageous. For being the light of Christ to everyone she met. For hearing my heart and holding my hand. For pursuing Eiley endlessly and never losing hope.

Thank you.

Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:3-4
